Cardiac Testing Evaluation

Prior to the development of the content for an AAFP CME program related to cardiac testing, EHR data of DI healthcare systems in 3 selected regions of the U.S. were pulled and evaluated. Data included targeted cardiovascular testing ordered by PCP including ECG, exercise treadmill, functional/advanced testing, and cardiac CT scans. Data results were used to develop CME content targeted to specific regional testing orders.

Patients were placed into 4 cohorts, depending on symptoms and diagnoses. Patients were further stratified into 3 risk groups. The analysis, looking at the symptomatic cohorts in each of the 3 regions, evaluated which test each group was most likely to receive and how the test related to risk.
